What We Do
We want to put the fun back into youth sports! Happy Hockey is a community-based field hockey program that offers its hosts all the necessary tools to bring a fun learning environment to the players.
Happy Hockey educates its hosts to deliver an experienced-based curriculum that was designed with more than just the stick and ball in mind. This program uses the sport to teach bigger lessons such as teamwork, leadership, effective communication, and the power of appreciation. Our program is centered around five key principles, called the "Happy Hockey High 5's." |
The Happy Hockey High 5'sHappy Hockey (HH) believes in five key principles called our "Happy Hockey High 5's." Our program hosts will see key elements of each principle in the curriculum and program design.
|
1. OPPORTUNTIES FOR ALL: HH welcomes participation from all backgrounds and genders and believes in equal playing time for all players.
2. POSITIVE MENTORSHIP:
HH is committed to teaching in a positive manner and giving reinforcements through success, not failure. 3. NO TROPHIES:
HH does not believe in trophies during adolescence, but rather feels that hard work and effort are the keys to lifelong success. For this reason, there are no trophies given out in HH. |
4. ATHLETE-CENTERED COACHING:
The days of telling your athletes where to go and what to do on the field are over. HH delivers activities, drills, and games that make them think, let them lead, and give them opportunities to reflect and feel empowered! 5. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP:
It is imperative that all participants, athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and host administrators show respect and kindness to one another. This is a non-negotiable and any behavior otherwise has no place in our organization. |
